Multi Day River Trips
Arrive in the afternoon/evening at our Camp Ground. We will have camp set up for you, so all you have to do is relax by the fire and discuss the kayaking or canoeing trip ahead of you. In the morning you will help prepare a campfire-made breakfast. From there you and your guide/s will go to the river and start on your journey. You will kayak through the rural Vermont countryside with fine views of the Green Mountains. You are most likely to see many covered bridges, and wildlife on the paddle down the river. You will paddle until lunch time and then have a leisurely lunch on the banks of the river. There may be some portages to get around dams, etc. After lunch, we will continue to paddle the river. Once we reach a good camping spot, we will take out of the river and set up camp. We will teach you how to properly set up camp beside a river making the least amount of impact. We will enjoy a wonderful dinner that everyone will pitch in to help make. After dinner, depending on the location, there could be an optional night hike available. You will be sure to get a good night's sleep with the sounds of the river and nature in the background. The next morning you will wake up, eat and pack for another day on the river. West River White Water Rafting
Fall 2011
The class III and IV rapids of the West River, Vermont are one of the state's hidden treasures. This intermediate-level white water raft trip is an ideal way to kick off the season or to view the fall foliage. We put in at Ball Mountain Dam, where water is released for the trip. Our first taste of big water comes as we head into Landslide rapid. Several miles of continuous rapids later we meet our biggest challenge at the Dumplings where negotiating the river's natural s-turn pushes each raft's paddling skills to the limit. We stop by the riverside for a brief snack and have opportunities for swimming before taking out at Townshend Reservoir. Participants on West River trips should be prepared for a fairly strenuous walk down a steep rocky trail at the beginning of the trip.
